wildlife webcams

My kids enjoy watching wildlife, whether elk at Rocky Mountain National Park or squirrels at the local park. Unless we visit a zoo, our wildlife viewing opportunities where we live are limited, but webcams provide a way for the kids to see lions, eagles, wildebeests, and other animals in their natural environments. Here are a few of the many webcams that you can find online:
Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary (I once visited this sanctuary near Brisbane, Australia, and had my photo taken while holding a koala!)
If the webcam is located in another country and is a live webcam, you may have to check it at several different times of day to “catch” the animals on your computer. The Africam includes a handy Twitter feature that lets you know when different animals are at the watering hole. Try typing in the name of your child’s favorite animal and webcam into a search engine. Many zoos have webcams that feature their animal exhibits, as do some national parks. Some sites don’t show live streaming video, but you can still see a variety of animals in action online!
